Yours Faithfully,
Leon Donnelly. | The nearest screen to you appears to be the Showcase in Bristol during the initial run, but it's perfectly normal for films to filter wider in the subsequent weeks. Check http://www.findanyfilm.com/search for more details. |

| Simon Brough | today i read the latest issue of Focus, and i saw a section on John Woo's new film, Red Cliff. after browsing the "monthly releases" section, i could not find a release date. is it possible that you could tell me when this film is due to release in the UK? | Unfortunately John Woo's action epic Red Cliff does not have a confirmed release date at this time, though the one thing we can tell you is that it will be released as one film in the UK, unlike two parts as in some other territories. |
| tony hillman | I write a film column for a NE magazine so regularly consult the fda site for details of forthcoming releases. By following a link from their site I've come across yours. Where can I pick up your mag? I've not seen it in any newsagents or my regular cinemas at Teeside or Middlesborough. Do you mail out? If so would you put me on your mailing list please? I would also appreciate if possible back issues. I see these are available to view on line but I prefer hard copies which I can keep on file as I do with my other mags
Tony Hillman | The magazine is distributed to 750,000 homes in the south west of England, south Wales, East Anglia and north east of England. Unfortunately our budgets do not permit us to mailout back issues, though they are all available to download in PDF form from the site. |

| raj awasti | What does a 'Focus Puller' do? | A focus puller is responsible for maintaining the focus of the camera during a shot. This involves painstaking preparation, measuring the distance of the camera from the actors in a scene, which is crucial because the focus puller is not looking through the camera at any point. They are also responsible for changing lenses and ensuring the camera is clean and properly maintained. |
| David Alexander | At a cinema which arm rest is yours? | Crucially it depends if anyone is sitting next to you, if you have someone either side then potentially neither the left or right arm rest is yours to use, though for those cinemas that provide cup holders there is a useful indication of which side might reasonably be utilised. |
| Howard Marsh | Why do some films not make it outside of London? | This is a commercial decision made by film distribution companies and cinema bookers based on the reasonable expectation of seeing a return on the cost of producing more prints of a film and shipping them to venues outside of London.
These decisions may be determined by the diversity of the population in a given area, and factors such having a university in the area may inform them also.
Of course film distribution companies vary in size and some can only afford a 'platform' release in London which will garner interest in the national press, before sending films around the UK.
If there is a particular film that you fear may not come your way why not speak with staff at your local cinema to register your interest, or enquire about the possibility of them establishing screenings of the kind of films you are interested in?
If there is a viable market you can guarantee that the film well released eventually.
Keep checking local press for details! |
