So who is Jerry Bruckheimer?
One of Hollywood's most successful film ever producers, that's who. His movies have grossed over $15 billion worldwide, picking up scores of nominations along the way including 41 Oscar nominations.
A former advertising man, Bruckheimer first made his mark with stylish crowdpleasers such as American Gigolo and, in 1983, the global smash Flashdance
Together with his producing partner Don Simpson Bruckheimer redefined the summer blockbuster, bringing major hits such as Top Gun, Beverly Hills Cop, Crimson Tide, Bad Boys and The Rock to the screen.
After Simpson's untimely death in 1996 Bruckheimer's Midas touch was brought to bear on further notable movies such as Con Air, Armageddon, Pearl Harbor, Coyote Ugly, Black Hawk Down, The Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy and the National Treasure films.
Soon he will bring us the British produced Prince of Persia and G-Force, but first he presents the seemingly atypical Confessions of a Shopaholic. Based upon the popular books by Sophie Kinsella it may be the perfect credit crunch movie telling, as it does, the cautionary tale of Kinsella’s spendthrift heroine Rebecca Bloomwood, played by Isla Fisher.
